Overview
The U.S. has a strong history of local economic development that is grounded in cooperative, democratic, equitable and sustainable values. The solidarity economy is a framework and movement that brings together practices that align with these values in order to build an economy that serves people and planet.
We are interested in 2022 candidates’ responses to these questions that the U.S. Solidarity Economy Network drafted about policy priorities to determine support for innovative, solidarity economy solutions. We present some real world solutions to a range of critical issues that are converging: the pandemic, a looming recession, the racial justice uprising, climate change, and the threat to democracy. For each of the six topics, we briefly discuss the problem, the solution, and ask for your position on relevant policies.
